On Monday nights at Port Noarlunga Arts Centre I run alternate sessions in life drawing and portrait drawing. Beginners are especially welcome to both sessions. You might like to come and try your hand at portraits and when you are a bit more confident you could try life drawing. Bring willow charcoal, pencils, cartridge paper, clips and A3 drawing boards; easels are provided.
If there is enough interest, I occasionally run a course in portrait drawing which is designed to help people who are just starting to draw from the live model. These 4 lessons aim to take away the fear of drawing portraits by demonstrating strategies to improve accuracy and avoid basic mistakes. Focusing on the anatomy of the skull, the pitfalls of portraiture, achieving accuracy without losing expression, and how much detail is most effective.
If you would like to come to the Monday portrait sessions contact me by filling in the form below, or go to the South Adelaide Life Drawing Meetup page where you can see details of all the upcoming sessions.
